LETTER FROM NECO HOME’S CHILD

simana

I am Simana Pandey. I'm 15 years old and I study in Grade 8. I was brought in NECO four years ago. My home is in remote place of Gorkha from where I have to walk nearly five hours to reach my birth place. My parents were very poor and used to live in a small hut. My father died when I was 2. And my mother, Bimala Pandey, had to struggle hard for us. Unfortunately, my mother became ill that made our life more difficult. Although, my grandparents took responsibility of my two sisters and me, our life became so miserable. They couldn’t work due to their old age and mother required medical treatment because later she got mentally ill. I can’t imagine how hard life was. I had to physical labor and it was tough for me.

Because of my family conditions, I could hardly go to school. So, I couldn’t get good marks. But in NECO Home, I go to school every day. I am very much interested in Mathematics, Science and English. When I complete high school, I want to join University to fulfill my aim, that is, to become a doctor for my family as well as for NECO Home. Because NECO Home is like a paradise to me that has helped me to fulfill lots of my dream

Finally, I would like to thank you all for your support, love and care. And I am very happy that you all are helping us live a better life. Your generous donations help us to achieve our goal.

My view

I think NECO children are very much lucky than others because I have seen many friends in school who are not able to fulfill their needs. But it is not the case for us anymore. To me all those people who help us are God.

Again, thank you for your generous donations for supporting NECO Home and supporting NECO's Children.

TEEJ FESTIVAL

According to Hindu religion, Teej known as women’s fasting festival is celebrated from 4th September. Also it's the national festival and it is a three-day-long celebration, each day having its own significance.

Generally, the eve of Teej festival is celebrated with utmost dedication and love by both married and unmarried women for the long life, martial happiness, well being of her husband and children and purification of own body and soul, getting a good husband by wearing red, yellow and green clothes, bangles, etc.

First Day “Dar Khane  Din”

Teej starts with a grand feast of exotic but delicious cuisine called the 'Dar'. Dar is made with the mixture of different varieties of food. We celebrated this day by eating delicious foods like curd, khir(a kind of dessert), meat varieties etc. and by distributing bangles and clothes to ladies’ staffs and kids. We also danced and sang lots of folk Teej songs.

Rishi Panchami known as the act of purification. On this day Care Giver women as well as some girls got up early for a holy bath. It is believed that taking a holy bath takes away all the sins of the previous years. At last, after having shower, they sat in round a priest who chanted devotional prayers.
