WINTER VACATION
Every year, children get one week winter vacation. They are free from their routine studies. During their holidays, they help in the kitchen, clean the NECO premises, play games and indulge in various activities. During this holiday, they also enjoyed watching televisions and using chrome book. We encouraged them to be more energetic, to involve in sports and art.
For their vacation, we planned a trip Palpa and Lumbini. The kids were really excited about it. A three day and two nights’ tour was what they need after a long time at school.
After a long drive of six hours, we reached the most beautiful place, Pokhara, situated in the lap of the Annapurna Mountain. That day we stayed near the Fewa lake. On our way to phokhara, we also visited Begnas Lake.
Early in the morning, with full of charm and happiness in the face, we went to Fewa Lake. Children enjoyed boating. Afterwards, we headed towards Palpa.
Palpa: About 6 hours drive, we finally reached our destination, Palpa, the ancient town, located by the hill, full of old artistic Newari houses, cobbled streets. Due to the lack of the time and the tiredness, we only visited Shreenagar Hills and Palpa Durbar. We wanted to see the beautiful view of Tansen Bazzar, Madi Faat, Rivers and Himalayan Ranges. Bad Luck! Due to foggy environment, we couldn't see those.
Lumbini: The birth place of Lord Gautam Buddha, the messenger of the peace, located in Kapilvastu district, about 306 km west from Kathmandu is declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO.
We visited Mayadevi temple, Ashoka Pillar, Famous Lumbini Museum, World Peace Flame and World peace Stupa, Tilaurakot, Kunda , Devdaha, and Several Buddhist Monasteries and Stupas built by different countries.
We greatly appreciate and are thankful to our founder Mr. Bhatta for deciding for the trip and to all the NECO Staffs for making the program a success.
CHILD OF THE MONTH
Ram Prashad Ghale is from remote area of Gorkha District. He is thirteen and is studying in grade six. He has five siblings. His father died when he was seven. Although, his mother worked hard, she was unable to feed her children properly. In addition to that, she couldn’t give them good education and quality life. Ghale’s two brothers are staying in another place just like NECO. When his brothers and he got a place to stay, her mother was very happy. She wanted to see her children succeed. Unfortunately, she passed away last year due to chronic liver cirrhosis.
Ram loves to play football, chess, and carom. He wants to be a football player. He is also very good at Taekwondo. He is about to get the black belt.
BACK TO SAN FRANCISCO
NECO Founder, Mr Bishow Bhatta returned to San Francisco this month. He came Nepal bringing lots of energy, love, and gifts. He stayed for almost a month. During his stay, he did lots of official and construction works.
