Namaste and Welcome Back to NECO update!
First of all, we would like to thank you all for the ongoing love, support and care for us.
Dashain is the greatest and longest Hindu Festival in Nepal that lasts for fifteen days. It begins on the day of Ghatasthapana and finishes on the day of Kojagrat Purnima. It usually begins in October and there's a public holiday all over Nepal. All the schools, offices as well as all government offices are closed throughout the festival.
It’s the festival that we celebrate with families, relatives as well as with friends by going to each other's houses. We receive Tika from our elders and get blessings for the upcoming days. It is believed to carry immense power to go through every hardship for the upcoming days.
The next is the Tihar festival, is the second main festival of Nepal, called as the day of lights. It’s celebrated for five days. This festival not only shows human intimate relationships but it also shows human intimate relationships with animals and birds like crow, dog, cow and ox.
Also, it’s the festival of brothers and sisters, celebrated by putting five different colors in their forehead with garland (mala) of Makhamali and Saypatri with Dubo grass while wishing their long life and prosperity. Besides all these we enjoyed eating delicious food esp. sailroti and playing some traditional gambles.
Stay Safe and Healthy!
